Here she won the pay—

Stockholm County Council 1996. That was the year their salaries increased more than men's. On average, the mean salary rose by 982 kronor — or 6.18 percent — during the past year. Women's average salaries increased by just over one percent more than men's, writes the county council's own magazine Fakta. But women still earn significantly less overall — only 75 percent of men's salaries. Cecilia L Gustavsson

The cabinet that helps you remember your birth control pills

Do you sometimes forget to take your birth control pill? Do you have tampons scattered everywhere?

Exercise a little and lose weight LOS ANGELES. Exercise often, but only for short periods. That is the model for women who want to lose weight. At least judging by a study conducted at the University of Pittsburgh. The results showed that women who exercised in several ten-minute periods every day had better fitness and lost more weight compared to those who did one 30-minute session a day. Magnus Sundholm

Young designers at the exhibition ”Badrum” [Bathroom] have the solution. At Designtorget in Stockholm and Göteborg, Beckmans student Alexander Lervik presents his prototype for a birth control pill cabinet — Agata. Before working on the cabinet, he conducted a small survey among his female circle of acquaintances. Besides losing the blister pack, it was the time interval that the women complained about. ”Did I take the pill in the morning, at lunch, or in the evening?” Therefore, Alexander came up with the idea of a warning light that starts flashing after 24 hours if you have forgotten to take your pill. After 36 hours, it shines with a steady light. And then you should avoid sex if you do not want to get pregnant. Also featured in the exhibition are two tampon cabinets. Pernilla Giorgi, business graduate, and Maria Kreutz, building conservator, have made one in birch. The iron tampon dispenser is designed by Klara Brunnström, a student at Högskolan för design och konsthantverk. The exhibition ”Badrum” runs at Designtorget in Stockholm 7 March–13 April. And then continues in Göteborg, 25 April–25 May. Therese B.
