lighting. Bega concentrates on the development of lighting fixtures for interior and exterior lighting of offices, museums, public buildings, sports halls, as well as road and street lighting and underwater lighting. Glashütte Limburg handles interior lighting for private homes and for the contract market, working with glass as the primary material. The Dutch Boom concentrates on exterior lighting for private homes, public buildings, and streets and paths.
The group publishes a lighting journal four times a year (this year it has 42 years under its belt), and in the latest issue from April 98 one can read about the group's deliveries to the newly constructed Getty Center in California, designed by Richard Meier. But the main emphasis in the journal is quite naturally placed on the presentation of the group's newest lighting fixtures, and it is by no means boring. It quickly becomes clear that the three lighting companies maintain an exceptionally high standard in both design and execution. Glashütte Limburg has chosen their very elegant pendant as well as a downlight with a low-voltage halogen light source in brass/mouth-blown glass, and a newly developed pendant for Deutsche Bank executed in cast aluminium, stainless steel, and 3-layer opal glass. Boom shows a new series of outdoor fixtures made of copper, stainless steel, and 3-layer opal glass. Bega is represented with a low-voltage halogen downlight with a stainless steel collar, two fixtures for walls and doorsteps in stainless steel, as well as a very elegant fixture for park and path lighting, equipped with low-energy fluorescent tubes and made of lacquered aluminium, frosted glass, and transparent acrylic. In addition to the journal, Lichtgruppe Gantenbrink publishes a main catalogue, and the latest (no. 26) has just been released.

Ten decades in Swedish
Here comes a Swedish furniture designer whom one would do well to keep an eye on. The name is Alexander Lervik, and as his graduation project from Beckmans School of Design in Stockholm in the month of May, he has chosen to reflect upon the 20th century: "As a graduation project, I have chosen to find out how things have been, in preparation for what

is to come. I do this with the help of ten stools, one for each decade," Lervik writes in his fine brochure. And one must note that Lervik reviews the ten decades with talent, curiosity, and humor. Mackintosh, Rietveld, Breuer, Aalto, Mathsson, Wegner, Kjærholm, Memphis, etc., are among the sources of inspiration, and they are all treated with loving discipline. Lervik has succeeded in capturing both the spirit of the time and expression with tremendous empathy and precision, which is unusual for such a young designer. His graduation project(s) have been supported by a long list of good Swedish furniture manufacturers, and that is easy to understand, for they must almost be queuing up to get hold of that talent.

Three new cabinets
Gustafs Inredningar AB is a Swedish company that has specialized in manufacturing cabinets for commercial interiors, offices, institutions, etc.
Most recently, they have launched three new cabinets: an environmental cabinet, a newspaper cabinet, and a wardrobe, all of which appear in a functional design and with high craftsmanship.
The environmental cabinet is designed for the storage and sorting of dry office waste and recyclable waste, which is underscored by a milled recycling logo in the cabinet doors. The cabinet is available in four sizes and is supplied with sorting bins in recycled plastic.
The newspaper cabinet is supplied in two variants: as a brochure rack divided into bins, and as a magazine rack with shelves. Both variants are produced with storage space behind the slanted fronts. The cabinets are furthermore equipped with a low-voltage halogen fixture mounted on an independent top panel.
The wardrobes are made in sections, from one to six sections, and can be supplied with solid, perforated, or slotted doors, or with glass doors. In addition to the cabinets, Gustafs Inredningar AB also manufactures shelving units, lockable cabinets, mail sorting cabinets, and bag storage cabinets. All products can be obtained clear-lacquered in beech and birch, as well as in white, red, and blue.

belysning.
