Stockholm Furniture Fair 60 years

A modern 60-year-old that has developed into the unified arena for Nordic design. That will be celebrated in several ways!

Among other things, the fair, together with design writer Hedvig Hedqvist, has put together a museum exhibition with Swedish classics 1951–2011. Come to the entrance square and join a nostalgia trip through the fair's 60-year history.

During the second week of February, Stockholm transforms into a hive of design and creativity. In parallel with Stockholm Furniture Fair & Northern Light Fair, a series of forward-looking events takes place around the city. Welcome to stockholmdesignweek.com

An object that is guaranteed to captivate many visitors at Stockholm Furniture Fair & Northern Light Fair is Alexander Lervik's light installation "Dimension", which during the fair days is on an exclusive outing from the insurance company Skandia's headquarters.

Alexander Lervik was born in 1972 in Stockholm and has studied product and interior design at Beckmans School of Design (1995–98). He is represented at, among others, the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo, the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, and most recently Norway's Design Museum in Oslo.

A, if you will, shining example of the interplay between client and creator. "Dimension" consists of heads, half men and half women... ever made... "It is so far ahead that there was no software to show it in 3D format," says Alexander Lervik, who compares each head in the 3 x 3 x 3-meter large work to a pixel on a TV screen for a three-dimensional effect.

Light Bar will be a combination of bar and exhibition. A place for meetings, mingling, and inspiration. Here, the latest materials in lighting will be shown, as well as a mix of the exhibitors' lighting products. The walls are matte black... chosen by the fair's exhibitors. "A feeling of toning down all impressions from the large halls," says Alexander Lervik.
