LIGHTOPIA

28 SEPTEMBER - 16 MARCH Vitra Design Museum. Charles-Eames-Str. 2, Weil am Rhein www.design-museum.de

Design giant Vitra's first exhibition on the theme of lighting design gathers over 300 luminous objects from the design, architecture, and art worlds. Contemporary designers and artists such as Olafur Eliasson, Front, and Daniel Rybakken are also represented.

OUT OF HAND: MATERIALIZING THE POSTDIGITAL

16 OCTOBER - 6 JULY

Museum of Arts and Design, 2 Columbus Circle, New York www.madmuseum.org

Our post-digital era has enabled entirely new ways for creators to express themselves. There has been a lot of talk about 3D-printed fashion à la Iris van Herpen, for example. The New York museum MAD is the first to explore the subject with the exhibition Out of Hand - Materializing the Postdigital. Over 80 digitally inspired or produced works are showcased here by creators such as Ron Arad, Zaha Hadid, and Anish Kapoor.

19 OCTOBER - 2 MARCH

Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde. Prins Eugens väg 6, Djurgården www.waldemarsudde.se

This is a noble presentation of Carl Malmsten's significant life's work as a designer and interior architect. The large collection of furniture and drawings highlights Malmsten as one of Sweden's most influential furniture creators of all time. With the help of student works from the Carl Malmsten School, his pedagogical contribution is also emphasized, and on site there is a craft workshop for anyone who wants to do carpentry under expert guidance.

CINDY SHERMAN: UNTITLED HORRORS

19 OCTOBER - 19 JANUARY Moderna Museet, Exercisplan, Skeppsholmen www.modernamuseet.se

Decadent clown, disfigured hermaphrodite, busty Monroe or Virgin Mary - her alter egos are as countless as they are unforeseen. Cindy Sherman is one of the most influential artists of our time. She has chosen the photographic portrait as her form of expression and herself as the object. This autumn, her work is shown at Moderna Museet in Stockholm for the first time. It is a retrospective exhibition reflecting Sherman's recurring references to the sexist and stereotypical, cinematic and art historical.

ALEXANDER LERVIK: 15 YEARS, 15 CHAIRS, 15 PHOTOGRAPHERS

5-13 OCTOBER Galleri Kleerup Pop-up, Klefgränd 10, Mosebacke torg www.lervik.se

This year, Alexander Lervik has been active as a designer for 15 years ... and launched just as many chairs. He wants to celebrate this and has let 15 well-known photographers each shoot a chair. The aim is to examine the photo's significance for a product and stretch its boundaries. The participating photographers include Martin Parr, Gunnar Smoliansky, Annika von Hausswolff, Vee Speers, and Bruno Ehrs. In collaboration with Galleri Kleerup, the exhibition will be shown in several places in Stockholm, as well as immortalized as a book.
