FEATURES THE KITCHEN OF THE FUTURE

smart features but also a longing for wood, fire, and environmental awareness – are prominent in the kitchen of the future. The kitchen is more than ever the central focal point.

...we would never eat where the food was prepared. The kitchen has become... or the kitchen has... in the living room... functional layout... in the restaurant kitchen. ...is head of assortment... She has followed... kitchen and living... common place for both... socializing.

The open floor plans have driven the technological development of kitchen appliances and lighting. The white goods need to be quieter than before, and the lighting, like that of the living room, should be dimmable.

The noise level of dishwashers and exhaust systems is something we are working a lot with right now. In addition, we place a lot of focus on energy performance, such as water-saving taps, Nordic Swan Ecolabelled cabinet doors, energy-efficient appliances, waste sorting, and garbage disposals. When it comes to lighting, it is largely about spotlights with LED technology and dimmers. The dimmer function is important so that you can switch from functional work lighting to a cozy atmosphere.

Johanna Hallander is PR manager at Electrolux home products. She also sees how the kitchen is becoming increasingly integrated with the home and the user.

We will see more products that communicate with each other, and certain functions move from the display to smartphones, for example, so that we become more flexible and can control our home remotely.

Maria Ståhl is Commercial Manager at competitor Whirlpool. She sees the kitchen's machinery growing broader, with more and more special functions for specific purposes. These include built-in espresso machines, wine coolers, and steam ovens.

People have a desire to be more experimental in their cooking and do what the TV chefs do. The features will not be at the center; instead, needs and lifestyle patterns are allowed to take up more space, says Maria Ståhl.

At the same time as the convenient features multiply, the nature trend is growing ever stronger. What we see coming is thus the best of two worlds: smart kitchen appliances, boiling or carbonated water straight from the tap – and close-to-nature interiors that bring to mind the countryside or a mountain cabin. There are industrial-style cabinet doors, custom-ordered concrete countertops, muted color palettes, and open shelves and hooks with rustic equipment fully visible.

The country kitchen with untreated wood surfaces is becoming increasingly popular, comments Skanska Nya Hem's Anna-Carin Busk. Many people laugh when I say it, but I think bare pine and copper are on their way in!

But our longing for roots, authenticity, and nature is visible even more clearly than in the choice of cabinet doors and details. At Whirlpool, we see a future concept with a high-tech cooking table – centrally placed in the open kitchen – that provides the atmosphere of an open fire.

Men vår längtan efter rotter, dkthet och natur syns dnnu tydligare än i val av koksluckor och detaljer. Hos Whirlpool ser viett framtidskoncept med ett hog teknologiskt matlagningsbord - centralt placerat i det 6ppna koket - som ger atmosfir som en öppen eld.
