Swedish designer Alexander Lervik completes the limited edition furniture collection "Hemvist", made from solid wood offcuts. The collection will be exhibited at his own gallery Unikat located in Stockholm and, like the other exhibitions hosted there, will present unique experimental products of fine craftsmanship signed by the creative.

The designer draws on Swedish artistic heritage and local craftsmanship to compose a set of chairs, tables, and benches, recalling: "Just over 60 miles north of Gävle, at the same latitude as Skellefteå and in the middle of the Västerbottnian forests lies Norsjö. The company 'Drömtrappor' has been here since 1922. I remember the first time I visited the factory, it was the only time in my 25 years in the furniture industry that I got goosebumps seeing how production is done. In front of me, furniture craftsmen were working with materials sourced mainly from the forests outside the factory." Following this sustainable design approach, the collection utilizes the leftover wood produced from another project by the creator.

Alexander Lervik's initial design takes the form of a staircase focusing on the intricate details of the joining parts and will be exhibited at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023. The wood left over from the construction of the staircase composition is reused in the making of the limited edition furniture, forming an armchair, a small table, and a bench. The "Hemvist" furniture set applies a construction technique that uses pegs and wedges to join the wooden pieces together. "In this furniture collection, I have simplified the shape into a graphic simplicity with a strong identity."
