Swedish designer Alexander Lervik completes the limited edi!on collec!on of furniture ‘Hemvist’ constructed out of le"over solid wood. The compila!on will be exhibited at his own Unikat Gallery located in Stockholm and, like the rest of the exposi!ons hosted, will present experimental unique products of delicate cra"smanship signed by the crea!ve. The designer draws from the Swedish ar!s!c heritage and local cra"smanship to compose a set of chairs, benches, and tables, recalling ‘Just over 60 miles north of Gävle, at the same height as Skelle"eå and in the middle of the Västerbo#nian forests lies Norsjö. The company ‘Drömtrappor’ has existed here since 1922. I remember the first

!me I visited the factory, it is the only !me in my 25 years in the furniture industry that I got goosebumps from seeing how the produc!on is done. In front of me, furniture cra"smen worked with materials that mostly come from the forests outside the factory’. Following this sustainable design approach, the collec!on makes use of le"over wood produced from another project of the creator’s.

THE CHAIRS AND TABLES ARE MADE OF LEFTOVER WOOD The original design by Alexander Lervik forms a staircase focusing on the intricate details of the joining parts and will be exhibited at Stockholm Furniturefair 2023. The le"over wood produced during the manufacture of the staircase composi!on is repurposed in the construc!on of the limited edi!on pieces of furniture forming an armchair, a small table and a bench. The ‘Hemvist’ set of furniture apply a building technique that uses pegs and wedges to conjoin the wooden pieces together. ‘In this furniture collec!on, I have simplified the shape to a graphic simplicity with a strong iden!ty’, shares the designer.
