Celsius
When Studio was launched in 2004, the characteristic bottle-cap shape of the backrest became a clear part of the chair's identity — a graphic signature that gave the model its own voice in the room, yet a shape that was complex to produce.

Through a formal update of the backrest, the expression has been simplified and brought closer to its time, while production becomes more rational. The seat's original press tool is retained unchanged, and the chair can be reupholstered in the future, which extends its lifespan and makes it more sustainable over time.
The result of the update is Celsius — and the bar stool Celsius BS.
Celsius is a chair design by the Swedish designer Alexander Lervik, dated 2026. The work is produced by Johanson Design, which manufactures and distributes it, while the design originates in Lervik’s studio. In the portfolio it is listed under chairs.
Alexander Lervik is a Swedish designer whose work spans furniture, lighting, product design and collectible design. His practice combines function, storytelling, technology and conceptual experimentation, moving between industrial production, limited-edition objects and design art. He trained at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm and runs his studio in Österlen in the south of Sweden.
The project belongs to a body of work that is represented in museum collections including Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, and that has been covered by international design and news media.
