MyBrain
A replica of the designer’s brain, originated from an MR scan at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. The image was processed through a 3D-printer, and became this unusual lamp shade design. Yes, it is bright. MYBrain is represented at the Röhsska Museum of Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg, Sweden.

MYBrain is one of Alexander Lervik’s best-known conceptual works: a lighting object based on a three-dimensional representation of his own brain, and a self-portrait in light.
The form began with a magnetic resonance scan made at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. The scan data was converted into a three-dimensional model and printed, turning medical imaging into a lamp shade — a functional object carrying the designer’s own anatomy.
The auction house Bukowskis has described MYBrain as the first signature object in Scandinavia created using 3D printing technology. It is a defining piece of Swedish collectible design and is represented in the collection of the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.
